I love stories...all stories. As a judge for the Austin Film Festival, I'm acutely aware of
the delicaet balance between characters, plot twists, and inner and outer dialog. Well-
written stories can be fantastic, but poorly written tales can also be learning tools for
creating exceptional screenplays and novels in the future.
When I was young I told heroic tales through simple pictures, hoping to someday join
the ranks of Shel Silverstein and Graeme Base. I loved how a single drawing could
capture the imagination of my audience and keep them in an imaginary world I had
created. Although I loved painting (and still do), I found that I could manipulate words
to create the same alternate realities and pull readers not just into a visual image, but
also into the thoughts and feelings of complex heroes and heroines.
World travels, a diverse education, and lots of books helped me developed a passion
for gripping dialog and unforgettable characters. Studying screenplays, working in
movies, and constantly beating my keyboard to create the “perfect” novel have
introduced me to incredible writers, authors, directors, and actors. All of these
amazing individuals continue to inspire me and help me in becoming a better
storyteller.
In addition to writing stories, I also write web content and train horses. I have steady
clients from around the world for whom I develop SEO articles, copywriting, and
informative and persuasive content. As for horses, I'm always taking on new students
and clients in and around the Austin area.
